Waltzing at the Waldorf

Here are the promised pictures of my birthday treat - dancing to the Berkley Square Society Band at the Waldorf Hotel in London.

We weren't even sure if we were going to make it as when we got to the station we heard there had been 'an incident' on the line and that our train had been cancelled. Undeterred, we jumped into our car and drove there instead, arriving only ten minutes late.

These are some of the cakes we ate - yum!

The tea dance was held in the beautiful Palm Court Restaurant.

We were surprised when we were told that Channel 4 were going to be filming the tea dance as part of a documentary. We were asked if we would be happy to be interviewed by Dawn Porter and stupidly agreed. This meant that I spent the rest of the dance worrying about it. In the end we weren't - which was a huge relief!

    1. Thank you Rosemary - I think the camera was kind in those photos! It is a series called Finging Love Online, they were looking at how important shared hobbies are in a relationship. Don't know when it will be on.

  3. What a lovely afternoon. Luscious cakes and your dance partner doesn't look bad either! Sounds like you had a wonderful birthday treat. You'll have to watch the documentary just in case they filmed you dancing...

  4. Oh, what a beautiful setting. Gosh, I'd have grown two left feet the minute I heard there was filming! In our writers' group at the library this morning, a chap came in to take photos for publicity material - right when I was reading my bit! Very offputting!

  7. Awe - how absolutely lovely. Thanks so much for sharing your photos, Wendy. I LOVE pics, especially ones of happy people having fun:) I so wish I could dance "properly", I would love to spend time in such a classy (yep, Lynne is right, I can't think of a better word than classy!) place. And what yummy food!
Okay, I am digressing for a moment but I just read this: "90% of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000X faster in the brain than text" Hm? It just shows you how good a good story must be in order for us readers to want to make the effort of keeping on reading it ... I suppose what I am saying is keep on writing those good stories :)
