Wish us Luck!

Tonight my choir Cantatrice will be taking part in a choir competition in Worthing. We shall be competing against three other choirs in one class and five others in another, so wish us luck!

I joined this choir when it was first formed nine years ago and I love it (almost as much as my dancing).

The youtube clip shows part of our choir - we are normally around 90 strong! Don't try to look for me in the video as I couldn't make that particular concert but it gives you an idea of who we are. I've just been laughing at the actions - usually we don't do any although it seems to be de rigueur for choirs these days.

We were given our seating arrangements for the competiton this morning and I had been put in the front row. I had to plead to be moved further back as I have a hatred of being on show. It's strange really as my main hobbies are all showy ones but I feel happier if I can mingle into the crowd. I only managed my salsa wedding dance because I'd had rather too many glasses of bubbly!

Talking of bubbly - if we do well tonight it will be a double celebration as I've just sold another story to The People's Friend. Yippee!

  1. Wow - that choir look such fun! Good luck, Wendy.

I hate being on show, too. I think that's why we write. We can do that in private. But book signings.....ugh!

  6. Like you, I love singing and dancing, Wendy - loved the video! It's a few years since I was in a choir (and in a competition). Well done on the placing, and on yet another stroy success.

  7. I remember you saying you liked dancing - it's my favourite thing! in fact we've just come back from a tea dance where we were f
probably twenty years younger than everyone but we don't care!

  8. Congratulations on another sale! That's brillant. Your singing sounds so good. I like to sing, but unfortunately none of my family like me doing it as it's always off key and sounds more like a tomcat on the tiles. When I'm driving on my own I can pelt out to my heart's content.
I must apologise for not having done the blog award you nominated me for. I'm running round like a mad thing at the moment trying to get my book ready for epub, my DH is working away so I've got his household stuff to do too, and doing a new part time job so time is very limited. I appreciate you nominating me, but I think realistically I might have to put a long raincheck on this if's ok. Thank you!

  9. Thank you Kate. You sound really busy at the moment. Good luck witht the epublishing - I shall look forward to reading it. Don't worry about the award. I think it's the being nominated that counts after all!

  10. Hi Wendy

I'm new to your blog after following you over from your guest post on Womag's blog.

I have to say you truly inspired me. I've been trying, rather unsuccessfully, to get my stories published for a while now, and you've made me realise that I need to focus more and get more stories out there.

Thank you for the much needed shove.
    Linda

PS - ignore the deletion of my last comment - I published before I was ready - doh!

  11. Thank you very much, Linda - that's really sweet of you to say. Just remember - the more stories you send, the more rejections you'll inevitably get but equally, the more acceptances. Good luck!

  16. Just read your excellent Star Letter in Writing Mag today. Good prize too - well done! You definitely should come along to next week's talk at WSW as all about fillers/articles etc and you definitely have the knack. Thurs - 14 March 7.30pm.

  17. It seems everyone has read it except me - they didn't have it in Tescos when I went this morning. Luckily I don't have the Writers' and Artists' Year Book, so that's great. I have the WSW talk on my calendar and shall see you there!
