Struggling to Write

As we're in London tomorrow, Bonnie is on another mini-break with Grandad. The weather was so lovely at six o'clock (evening, not morning!) that I just had to go out for a walk - dog or no dog. What it did mean was I was able to take photographs. This is a rarity on a walk as usually I am scanning the horizon for dogs that Bonnie might potentially like to eat!

I ended up walking for about an hour and a half, just enjoying the beautiful view, taking photographs and thinking about my next story.

I like to remind myself every now and again what a beautiful part of the country I live in.

Is it just me, or is everyone finding it harder to write in the hot weather? I find my attention span is shorter and I start itching to go out walking instead of writing.

No great writerly news today, except a sale to PF (thank you Shirley) and despite the distraction of the weather I managed to write a Christmas story.

  2. Thanks. Teresa. Yes, Bonnie always loves going to Grandad's - she gets thoroughly spoilt and I don't even want to think about all the snacks she gets!

  3. Lovely photos, Wendy. Yes, we do live in a gorgeous part of the world and I think I've walked along that river. Oddly, my writing productivity has gone through the roof in the heat - maybe because I have no inclination to do any housework...

  4. I'm struggling to get anything at all done in the heat: writing, cleaning, shopping, working! It's all such hard going right now. Praying for rain, my garden looks so dry.

  6. Lovely photos, and well done on another sale! Yes, even up here, the weather has made most people lethargic, especially the mugginess that always arrives eventually.

  7. Wendy, I'm glad it's not just me!! (finding it hard to write). It must be the weather..! I had to laugh about you 'scanning the horizon for dogs that Bonnie would like to eat' - I am usually scanning the horizon for dogs that would like to eat my little Bonnie! (We'd better never get our dogs together!!). And people think taking a dog for a walk is a nice relaxing thing to do...!

    1. Ha! They know nothing, Helen - people who don't have dogs have no idea of the minefield that is 'the dog walk'!
