Eight Go Wild in Broadchurch

It's funny because when I organised the annual girls walking weekend in Dorset, I had no idea that the place where we were based - West Bay- was the setting for the fantastic drama series Broadchurch, starring the lovely David Tennant. If you missed it, you missed a treat.

This is the cute little harbour at West Bay.

Here is the police station which featured in the series.

Was this where the murder took place?

I think the body is still there underneath the cliffs! (see guy in blue top)

On Saturday we managed the coastal walk from Charmouth to West Bay.

And we managed the climb up Golden Cap - just!
No writing done but we had a lot of laughs along the way and I have a wealth of material for stories. I can relax now and let someone else organise next year's trip.

    1. It was great, Rosemary - and we were very lucky with the weather. See you over at your launch party later - save me some food.

  2. Thanks for sharing these pictures, Wendy. I thought Broadchurch was a brilliant series. I also read that this was the beach where Leonard Rossiter swam into the sea at the opening of the Reggie Perrin sitcom.

  3. I didn't know that - what a famous beach! I think anyone who didn't see Broadchurch should ask for the box set for Christmas.

    1. That sounds like a good plan to me, Marianne and when you've watched it, you can come back and look at these pictures!

  6. Lovely photos - it doesn't look at all like a murder scene!

    1. What was strange was the fact that I didn't realise until I got there, Fran.

    1. I agree, Kate. It was strange seeing the newsagents and we ate in the pizza restaurant where the family went - purely by chance, as I'd booked it before even realising West Bay was where it was filmed.

  9. Broadchurch was superb. I've camped near West Bay and recognised it immediately. I believe they're going to make another series - hope so! The Dorset accents were a bit thick - I live in Dorset and don't know anyone who speaks quite like those actors (esp Mark, father of the victim). Glad you had a great holiday.

    1. Oh, I didn't realise you lived in Dorset, Kath. It is one of my favourite counties. I am not so far away from you(West Sussex). Interesting about the accents - I suppose unless you live there you wouldn't notice.

  10. It was a great series, and must have boosted the tourist trade down there. What a lovely surprise when you got to West Bay.
