Oh well, another year older! No, this isn't me celebrating with my friends - it was me on my sixth birthday. I'm the one at the front with my hands up. The photo brings back so many memories - I can name everybody and I loved my party dress so much. I wonder what they are all doing now? I suppose if I was a Facebook fan, I'd have the answer to that question but as I'm not, I shall probably never know.
So what shall I be doing on my special day? I have invited some girlfriends round for lunch and a gossip (always a good thing). I'm hoping they won't mind if I don't make anything - all my friends are fantastic cooks and although I like cooking family meals, I stress about cooking for company as I can't compete. I thought a selection of breads and cheeses and a cold meat platter followed by a cheating M&S desert and fresh berries. How does that sound?
I shall have to wait until Sunday for my birthday treat, though. My husband and I are off to the Waldorf Hotel in London for a tea dance in their Palm Court restaurant. I am SO excited! My two biggest pleasures, eating and dancing, all in one afternoon. We shall be dancing to The Berkley Square Band (yes, the same ones we danced to on Valentine's night) and I shall take some photos to show you all.
I am now trying to get to grips with my new iphone... help!
Wishing you a very happy birthday, Wendy, and a fantastic time at the Waldorf, you lucky person! Try and take some photos, please, so we can envy you some more!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Rosemary. I will - I'll do a big close up of a lovely cake!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY BIRTHDAY To YOU !!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great photo! I laughed seeing you with your hands up and not in a "pose" like the others :) Have a relaxing, fun gossipy day – I LOVE gossip, it's what makes the world go round, goes without saying I hate malicious gossip though. Your lunch sounds yummy and I know exactly what you mean about not cooking as I also have friends who manage to rustle up wonderful meals in no time at all, which is so great for me but which makes me so stressed when it it is my turn to reciprocate. Have a special Sunday and look forward to seeing the pics - i have never been to the Waldorf ( been to the Savoy, which is another story!). Belated congrats on story publication of It Takes Two to Tango! Yes!

Thank you, Marianne. My sister bought me a lovely tiered slate meat and cheese stand (like a cake stand) so at least all the bought food is displayed nicely!

Thanks Pat. I was just looking on PF facebook (I know you are very involved in it) and saw a mention of the sheep on the roundabout. Well they are just down the road from where I live and my husband almost crashed the car when he first saw them. I don't have Facebook so if you see this could you add a comment on my behalf?
ReplyDeleteThis post has only just got to me so belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY wishes Wendy. Hope you had a lovely lunch with the girlfriends and tea dance at the Waldorf Hotel sounds heavenly. Can't wait to see the pics! And see you tonight in Worthing. :)
ReplyDeleteOh and yes apparently the green sheep are back again. This time with a shepherd - so that should make all the difference!! First time I saw them did a double-take and probably wobbled all over the place...
It's funny how the sheep have become famous! I don't like the way they are green now! Green! Lunch was lovely thank you. See you tonight.
